成都，简称“蓉”，四川省省会，自古享有“天府之国”的美誉，是一座2000多年城址未迁、城名未改的历史文化名城，是全球唯一能够遥望5000米以上雪山的千万级人口城市。

Chengdu, ‘Rong’ (meaning Hibiscus) for short, is the capital of Sichuan Province and has been reputed as the 'Land of Abundance' since ancient times. It is a renowned historical and cultural city with its name and site unchanged over more than 2,000 years since its establishment. The city now stands as the only mega city with more than ten million population where views of over-5,000-metre snow mountains can be appreciated.

成都是中国西部消费中心和西南生活中心、国家中心城市、世界新兴城市，全国重要的经济中心、科技中心、金融中心、文创中心、对外交往中心和国际综合交通通信枢纽，是“一带一路”核心节点、西部大开发的战略依托和连接长江经济带的重要枢纽，是距离欧洲最近的国家中心城市。

Chengdu is the consumption centre in western China, the centre for life in southwest China, a National Central City and an emerging world city. It is a national centre of economy, science and technology, finance, culture and creativity, and international exchanges. It is also an international comprehensive transportation and communications hub. Being the pivotal node of the Belt and Road Initiative, the strategic support of China’s Western Development Program and the crucial hub connecting Yangtze River Economic Belt, Chengdu is the National Central City closest to Europe and shoulders the great mission of becoming an international gateway hub in western China linking the east with the west and Europe with Asia.

成都市域面积1.43万平方公里，辖20个区（市）县和天府新区成都直管区、成都东部新区、成都高新区，常住人口2093.8万人，服务人口2233.6万人，中心城区常住人口达1541.94万人、占全市常住人口的比重达73.6%，近10年常住人口增加581.89万人、中心城区常住人口增加552.55万，辐射四川省8300万人口、西部地区3.5亿人口形成的强大市场。2020年，全市地区生产总值1.77万亿元、列全国城市第7位。

The city covers an area of 14,300 square kilometres and has jurisdiction over Sichuan Tianfu New Area, Chengdu Eastern New Area, Chengdu High-tech Zone and other 20 districts (cities) and counties. It has a permanent population of 20.938 million and a service population of 22.336 million. In 2020, Chengdu’s GDP registered 1.77 trillion yuan, ranking 7th among all cities in China.

截至2021年7月，外国获批在蓉设立领事机构达到21家，数量居全国内地第三，中西部第一；国际友城和国际友好合作关系城市104个。

By July 2021, 21 countries have been approved to set up consular missions in Chengdu, ranking 3rd in Chinese mainland and 1st in central and western China; the number of international sister cities and friendly cooperative cities has climbed up to 104.

2020年，成都聚集世界500强企业达305家，与全球228个国家（地区）建立贸易往来，实现外贸进出口总额7154.2亿元，同比增长22.4%，分别位列全国副省级城市第4位和第2位。

In 2020, 305 out of the Fortune 500 companies have set up presence in Chengdu. The city has trade ties with 228 countries and regions around the globe, realizing a total foreign trade volume of 715.42 billion yuan, up by 22.4% year on year, ranking 4th and 2nd respectively among the sub-provincial cities in China.

成都连续三年荣获“中国国际化营商环境建设标杆城市”，连续八年稳居“最具投资吸引力城市”第一名，连续六年稳居新一线城市商业魅力排行榜榜首。

Chengdu has been awarded as China’s Benchmark City for International Business Environment for 3 consecutive years, ranking 1st in the Most Attractive Cities for Investment for 8 consecutive years and has topped among the new first-tier cities in the Ranking of Cities’ Business Attractiveness in China for 6 years in a row.
